A few of the rows above deserve more context than a checkmark can carry. PortPro describes itself as “a modern TMS, specifically for drayage” that combines dispatch, appointment booking, mile tracking, customer tariffs, and container tracking into one application, with implementation handled by a dedicated data expert and EDI/API setup that PortPro says takes up to roughly six weeks. That is a meaningfully different implementation model than Doublefast, which is configured around whatever intake, dispatch, and billing tools a carrier already uses rather than requiring adoption of a new system of record.
On appointments and terminal monitoring specifically, PortPro says it automatically pulls in terminal data points such as vessel ETAs, demurrage dates, and container status, and automatically books terminal appointments. Doublefast covers the same category of work — holds, last-free-day tracking, appointment booking and rebooking — as part of its operating layer, whether or not PortPro (or any TMS) sits underneath it.
On public pricing, neither vendor posts a standard rate card. PortPro's own pricing comparison page does not list dollar figures, and Doublefast pricing is likewise based on fleet size and features and quoted directly. In practice, carriers land on one of three setups. None of them is universally “correct” — the right one depends on whether a carrier already has a TMS, how much of its operational work is still manual, and how much control it wants to hand off versus keep close.
1. Choose PortPro as the primary TMS
This is the right call for a carrier that wants one full-featured platform covering dispatch, appointments, billing, and reporting, and is comfortable running its operation on PortPro's native workflow end to end, including its own AI-assisted dispatch and billing tools. One Production Deployment
What This Looked Like At One 30-Truck Carrier
This is one specific carrier's results, not a guarantee or an industry average. A 30-truck NY/NJ drayage carrier deployed Doublefast as an operating layer and, over the following months, grew from roughly 1,500 to 1,700 containers a month on the same 30 trucks — creating capacity for about 2,400 additional containers a year, or roughly $930,000 in annualized revenue capacity (Doublefast, internal deployment data).
