PortPro Comparisons
PortPro Alternatives for Drayage Carriers
PortPro alternatives range from other drayage-focused TMS platforms — Profit Tools, Trinium (both now part of the CargoWise Landside portfolio), TMSEZ, and PCS — to pairing PortPro itself with an AI operating layer like Doublefast that automates the manual work around it. Which one actually fits depends on what's missing: a different system of record, more transparent pricing, or AI automation without a full TMS swap. This page compares the realistic options, breaks down which fits which carrier profile, and covers when keeping PortPro and adding an AI layer beats replacing it.

Background
What Is PortPro?
PortPro is a transportation management system built specifically for drayage carriers and brokerages, covering order entry through payment (PortPro, verified Aug 17, 2026). Order intake supports email parsing, API connections, EDI, and spreadsheet or PDF uploads; the platform pulls status data directly from terminal websites, and offers drag-and-drop or AI-assisted dispatch planning, a driver mobile app, a customer-facing tracking portal, and invoicing tools (PortPro, verified Aug 17, 2026).
PortPro markets two named AI features as part of that workflow — an AI dispatcher (“Jerry”) that builds and adjusts dispatch plans, and an AI biller (“Helen”) that assembles invoices and flags accessorial charges (PortPro, verified Aug 17, 2026). Public pricing isn't posted; third-party listings describe it as a per-seat, quote-based model (G2, verified Aug 17, 2026). On Capterra, PortPro carries a 4.7/5 rating across reviews, with strong marks for ease of use and support, and reviewer notes that multi-terminal workflows and bulk-update tooling still have some rough edges (Capterra, verified Aug 17, 2026).
We're not affiliated with PortPro and haven't independently verified figures it hasn't published itself (company size, funding, exact review counts at any given moment). Read our PortPro pricing guide and PortPro reviews roundup for more detail on both.
Evaluation Triggers
Why Carriers Look for PortPro Alternatives
Carriers researching alternatives usually aren't reacting to a specific defect — they're hitting one of a few common evaluation triggers:
- Cost transparency. PortPro's pricing is quote-only, confirmed by third parties as a per-driver/per-seat model — carriers budgeting ahead of time sometimes want a platform (or an add-on) with published rates instead.
- Specific workflow gaps. Reviewers note multi-terminal carriers see more friction than single-terminal ones, and that bulk data uploads only support creating records, not updating them (Capterra, verified Aug 17, 2026). A carrier hitting one of these specific gaps may look sideways rather than out the door entirely.
- Wanting AI automation without a full TMS swap. Some carriers like their current system of record and don't want to migrate data, retrain dispatchers, or renegotiate terminal integrations just to get more automation — they want the automation layered on, not the whole platform replaced.
- Vendor consolidation or portfolio fit. Carriers already using another WiseTech/CargoWise product, or evaluating a broader enterprise stack, sometimes look at Profit Tools or Trinium for that reason alone.
The Field
PortPro Alternatives Compared
We looked at every product commonly mentioned alongside PortPro and kept the ones with enough current, verifiable public information to say something concrete.
Doublefast — AI operating layer
Not a TMS. Doublefast is an AI layer that automates delivery-order intake, terminal/container monitoring, holds and last-free-day tracking, appointment management, dispatch planning, driver coordination, customer updates, document collection, and billing — while the operating team stays in control. It can integrate with an existing TMS, including PortPro, or run for carriers without a suitable TMS in place today. In one 30-truck production deployment, the fleet grew from roughly 1,500 to 1,700 containers a month — creating capacity for about 2,400 additional containers a year, or roughly $930,000 in annualized revenue capacity (Doublefast, internal deployment data). Back-office headcount on that same deployment dropped from five people to two, a 60% reduction (read the full case study). Pricing is scoped in a conversation, not published.
Profit Tools & Trinium — CargoWise Landside
Profit Tools and Trinium-TMS are both marketed today as separately branded drayage/intermodal TMS products under CargoWise Landside, the WiseTech Global business that also owns Envase Technologies (CargoWise Landside — Profit Tools, verified Aug 17, 2026, CargoWise Landside — Trinium, verified Aug 17, 2026). Trinium is described as deployed across intermodal and drayage markets in the US and Canada, with an AI/ML-powered order-ingestion engine that converts incoming PDF or spreadsheet orders into dispatch-ready shipments, plus EDI/API connections to customers and automated container tracing. Neither product publishes pricing; both are enterprise, quote-based sales.
Full pricing, current review volume, and product-roadmap details for both weren't available from public sources at time of review — treat this as a starting point, not a complete profile.
TMSEZ — multi-mode, published pricing
TMSEZ is a cloud-based TMS for intermodal carriers, OTR/LTL operators, and freight brokers — not drayage-exclusive. It's the only product on this page with public pricing: $15/truck/month, a $75/month account minimum, no setup fee, and no contract (TMSEZ, verified Aug 17, 2026). Features include dispatching, a driver mobile app, document scanning, billing/invoicing and driver/carrier settlement, chassis auditing, and demurrage/per-diem alerts, plus accounting integrations (QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP).
PCS — drayage-specific cloud TMS
PCS Software's drayage TMS covers dispatch, fleet management, accounting, driver communication, and route optimization, with a mobile app for real-time task assignment, driver tracking, and document upload (gate tickets, bills of lading, proof of delivery). It integrates with eModal and Rail Inc. to refresh port and rail data automatically, and includes a per-diem audit feature focused on catching equipment-billing errors (PCS Software, verified Aug 17, 2026). Pricing isn't published; public review volume on G2/Capterra was sparse at time of review.
A note on DrayMaster
DrayMaster comes up often in the same conversations as PortPro, but it isn't a dispatch TMS — it's a rate-management and quoting platform (also now part of the CargoWise Landside portfolio) built to sit alongside an existing TMS, not replace one (CargoWise Landside — rate management, verified Aug 17, 2026). We're excluding it from the head-to-head comparison below since it solves a different problem (tariff and rate quoting) rather than order-to-billing operations.
Two Different Problems
TMS Replacements vs. AI Operating Layers
Profit Tools, Trinium, TMSEZ, and PCS are all TMS replacements — each is a full system of record you'd migrate onto instead of PortPro. That means new order-intake configuration, new terminal integrations, dispatcher and driver retraining, and a cutover date.
Doublefast is a different category: an AI operating layer that sits on top of whatever system of record you already run — PortPro included — or works directly from email, PDFs, and terminal data if you don't have a suitable TMS at all. It automates the repetitive execution work (intake, monitoring, appointments, dispatch planning support, customer updates, billing prep) without requiring you to change your system of record first.
These aren't strictly interchangeable options. If your problem is “I need a different system of record,” look at the TMS replacements. If your problem is “my team is buried in manual work regardless of which system of record we use,” an AI layer solves a different part of the stack — see our guide on whether AI can work alongside PortPro specifically.
By Carrier Profile
Best Alternative by Carrier Profile
Small owner-operator fleet
TMSEZ's published, low, per-truck pricing with no contract is the most accessible option to test at small scale, even though it isn't drayage-exclusive. If you don't yet run a full TMS and mostly need help with intake and terminal monitoring, an AI layer can also work directly from email and PDFs without forcing a platform purchase first.
Mid-size asset-light carrier evaluating a TMS swap
PortPro, Profit Tools, or Trinium are the more directly comparable drayage-specific systems of record at this scale. Which one depends on your existing vendor relationships and what you need from order intake and terminal integration specifically — worth a demo with at least two before deciding.
Enterprise, multi-terminal operation
Reviewers flag multi-terminal support as an area where PortPro still shows some rough edges. Profit Tools/Trinium (CargoWise Landside) or PCS, both built with intermodal/multi-facility operations in mind, are worth a closer look if that's your primary friction point — read our broader drayage TMS platform guide for the full category view.
Carrier wanting to keep PortPro but add automation
This is the pairing scenario, not the replacement scenario — see Doublefast vs PortPro and the PortPro + drayage automation breakdown below.
To be direct: if you know you need a conventional replacement TMS, Doublefast isn't the answer — go evaluate the TMS platforms above against each other instead.

Questions to Ask During a Demo
- What does full pricing look like at our fleet size, including per-seat costs for owner-operators?
- What does a realistic data migration and go-live timeline look like from our current system?
- How does order intake actually handle our specific document formats — not just the demo example?
- Which terminals do you have live integrations with today, and how fast are new ones added?
- What is manual today that your marketing describes as automated — walk me through the actual workflow?
- Can this run alongside our current TMS during a transition period, or is it cutover-only?
- What does support look like after the first 90 days, and is it included or billed separately?
- Can we talk to a reference customer at a similar fleet size and terminal footprint?
Honest Take
When PortPro May Remain the Better Fit
If you need one vendor covering dispatch, appointment booking, tracking, driver workflows, and invoicing in a single system, and you want AI features embedded natively in that same workflow rather than layered on separately, PortPro's all-in-one model is built for exactly that. It's a reasonable default if you don't currently run a TMS at all and want a single, drayage-specific platform to standardize on.
It's also the more defensible choice if your organization prioritizes a single throat to choke for the entire order-to-cash workflow over flexibility to swap pieces independently later.
Honest Take
When PortPro + Doublefast May Be the Best Architecture
If PortPro is already your system of record, your team is trained on it, and your terminal integrations are set up — but the actual pain is repetitive execution work (chasing terminal status, rebooking appointments, re-keying documents, prepping invoices) — pairing PortPro with Doublefast can address that without a migration. You keep the system of record and its embedded AI features, and add an operating layer scoped to the specific manual steps still consuming your team's time.
This isn't a binary “PortPro or Doublefast” decision for most carriers already running PortPro — it's a question of whether the gap is in the platform itself or in the manual work still happening around it. Explore this in more detail in our PortPro + drayage automation breakdown, our AI-alongside-PortPro guide, and our general TMS integration and back-office automation pages.
