Question 1

What is Doublefast?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast is AI-native automation for port drayage carriers, built as standalone modules: delivery order ingestion, container visibility, appointment booking, dispatch, and billing. Deploy one module to fix a specific bottleneck, or run them together as a complete operations platform. Your team signs off on anything that executes.

Question 2

Can I start with just one module, like appointment booking or dispatch?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Delivery order ingestion, container visibility, appointment booking, dispatch, and billing each run standalone against your existing systems. Most carriers start with the single workflow causing the most pain and connect other modules once that one is proven out.

Question 3

How does AI dispatch work?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast reads your delivery orders, assigns the right driver based on location and availability, generates paperwork, and stages the route for dispatch. Your dispatcher reviews and confirms it before it goes out. Your dispatcher becomes a supervisor, not an executor.

Question 4

What is appointment sniping?

Accepted Answer

Appointment sniping is the practice of booking terminal pickup appointments the instant they become available. Doublefast monitors terminal slots continuously and books them in milliseconds, before any human or competing system can.

Question 5

What is Last Free Day (LFD)?

Accepted Answer

Last Free Day is the final day a container can stay at the terminal before demurrage fees begin. Doublefast tracks LFD for every container in your fleet and surfaces it for your team to act on before the clock runs out.

Question 6

What is demurrage?

Accepted Answer

Demurrage is the fee charged by terminals when a container is not picked up before its Last Free Day. It compounds daily and can cost hundreds or thousands per container. Doublefast eliminates most demurrage by automating appointment booking so your team can execute pickup well before the deadline.

Question 7

How long does it take to set up Doublefast?

Accepted Answer

Most carriers are fully operational within eight weeks of onboarding. Doublefast connects to your existing workflows: delivery order email, terminal systems, and TMS, with minimal setup.

Question 8

Does Doublefast replace my TMS?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast works alongside your existing TMS: we read load data from it, run dispatch and appointment automation, and push results back. If you want to consolidate and run everything through Doublefast, we can do that too. Most carriers start by connecting Doublefast beside their current stack and expand from there.

Question 9

Which terminals does Doublefast connect to?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast connects to terminals across the major US port complexes including NY/NJ, LA/LB, and others. Contact us to confirm availability in your market.

Question 10

How does Doublefast handle exceptions?

Accepted Answer

When an exception occurs (a hold, a missed appointment, a driver issue), Doublefast alerts your team via Slack or email with full context so the right person can act quickly.

Question 11

Can Doublefast work with my existing driver apps?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Doublefast integrates with most driver mobile apps. Dispatch assignments and updates push directly to drivers so nothing changes about how they receive loads.

Question 12

How does pricing work?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast pricing is based on fleet size and features. Contact us for a custom quote tailored to your operation.

Question 13

What is the ROI of using Doublefast?

Accepted Answer

Carriers typically save 70–80% of their dispatcher headcount cost within the first quarter. They also eliminate most demurrage costs, which alone can exceed dispatcher salaries at busy operations. Use our ROI calculator to estimate your specific savings.

Question 14

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Doublefast uses industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. We never share your operational data with third parties.

Question 15

What happens if a terminal portal changes?

Accepted Answer

Doublefast engineers monitor terminal integrations continuously. When a terminal updates its system, we update the integration; you experience no interruption.

Question 16

Do I need technical staff to use Doublefast?

Accepted Answer

No. Doublefast is designed for carrier operations teams, not engineers. The dashboard is purpose-built for dispatch workflows, and onboarding is handled by our team.

Question 17

Is this relevant for PE or IB due diligence on a drayage carrier?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Doublefast produces audit-ready data on dispatcher headcount, container throughput, and detention exposure: exactly the operational metrics PE and IB teams need during diligence. We've worked alongside advisors doing carve-outs and roll-ups in the drayage sector.

Question 18

We're a BCO managing our own drayage — does this apply to us?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BCOs with in-house drayage operations use Doublefast to reduce the dispatcher headcount needed to coordinate pickups across multiple carriers and terminals, while cutting demurrage exposure across their container portfolio.

Question 19

We're a freight forwarder. Do we need to operate the drayage ourselves?

Accepted Answer

No. Freight forwarders use Doublefast to monitor container status and appointment availability across carrier partners without owning the trucks. You get visibility into demurrage risk and pickup readiness across your entire book.

Question 20

Does Doublefast integrate with ELD providers?

Accepted Answer

Not directly. ELD data lives with the carrier. Doublefast integrates with your TMS and terminal portals. Driver hours and availability are factored into dispatch through your existing workflow, not by pulling ELD feeds.

Question 21

Can factoring companies use this to verify carrier performance?

Accepted Answer

Indirectly. Carriers running Doublefast produce cleaner invoice data: same-day invoicing, zero manual entry, and verified pickup records. This reduces factoring risk and dispute rate. Some factoring companies prefer carriers with AI-assisted dispatch for this reason.

Question 22

We're a consultant advising a drayage operator — where do I start?

Accepted Answer

Start with the ROI calculator. Input fleet size, dispatcher count, and average container volume to get a rough savings estimate. We also publish the State of Port Drayage report which benchmarks operational costs across terminal markets, a useful baseline for a client assessment.

Question 23

What is per diem, and does Doublefast reduce it?

Accepted Answer

Per diem is the daily fee terminals charge for chassis use beyond the free time window. It's a cousin of demurrage; both are caused by slow pickup coordination. Doublefast reduces per diem exposure by booking appointments faster and dispatching containers before free time expires.

Question 24

We run a small fleet (under 20 trucks). Is Doublefast worth it?

Accepted Answer

Often yes. Small carriers feel dispatcher bottlenecks more acutely because one dispatcher handles everything. Carriers with 8–20 trucks have seen the largest proportional headcount reductions because one Doublefast deployment replaces the need to hire a second dispatcher as volume grows.
